Japanese Kids Club: Learning, Laughing, and Playing (Fall, 2026)

At Japanese Kids Club, children learn about the Japanese language and culture through fun, hands-on activities.

Rather than simply sitting and studying, students learn Japanese by playing games, making crafts, trying traditional Japanese activities, and practicing simple Japanese words and phrases together.

Here are some of the activities we enjoy at Japanese Kids Club!

Write Your Name in Japanese

Each week, students practice writing their names in Japanese. Once they feel confident, they also try writing the names of their family members.

Children are often surprisingly quick at recognizing and remembering Japanese characters!

Counting Numbers in Japanese

Students practice counting together and learn how to say numbers in Japanese through games and activities.

Learning Japanese Characters

Students are introduced to basic Japanese characters and practice recognizing, reading, and writing them.

We also use pictures, words, and games to make learning Japanese characters fun and memorable.

Eating Snacks with Chopsticks

Students enjoy a small snack while practicing how to use chopsticks.

Using chopsticks can be a challenge at first, but it is always one of the students’ favorite activities!

We practice chopsticks every week!

Trying Kendama

Students get a chance to try kendama, a traditional Japanese skill toy.

It is a fun way to experience Japanese culture while practicing coordination, concentration, and patience.

Japanese Calligraphy

Students experience Japanese calligraphy and practice writing simple Japanese characters with a brush.
